Mecho/ADA Manual Shade Maintenance

Check Annually

  • All mounting hardware (brackets) is affixed tightly and securely to its intended mounting surface.
  • No metal, plastic, or other particulate matter is collecting under the shade especially near bracket locations (i.e., center support bracket, idle bracket, drive bracket, etc.)
  • Fabric: No tears, separation of fabric from hembar, creases, or unacceptable wrinkling in the fabric is seen when the shade is fully deployed.
  • Obstacles in the path of travel to the shade must be removed to ensure free and clear operation of the shade from its top limit to its bottom limit.
  • Mechanical/Operational checks to be completed by a trained technician.
  • Maintain a clear floor space at the controls of at least 30”x52” (ANSI A117.1-2017 when applicable) or 30”x48” (ADA Stds) to allow for operation of the shade by either a forward or side approach.”
  • Verify the shade operates smoothly all the way up and down. No audible unexpected noises. Verify that the hembar always moves level and does not tilt.
  • Ensure that the handles are not loose on the pull wands.
  • Pull each handle down and release it to ensure it retracts smoothly into the clutch.
  • Ensure there is no excessive telescoping of fabric. Concerns may require shimming of bracket and/or fabric.
